Maggi noodles manufacturer Nestlé has changed the formula of both its two-minute noodles and recipe base sachets.

According to the company, sodium levels have been reduced by up to 55 per cent and some preservatives and chemicals have been removed.

A gluten-free range has also been introduced to the market.

Maltodextrins, modified starches and emulsifiers have been replaced with herbs and spices, and the packaging has changed too.

Healthy-sounding phrases such as “Simply good for you” and “Know what's inside” are seen on-pack.

On the back of noodle packets are instructions for consumers on how to "balance your meal" with healthy ingredients by filling your plate with vegetables, protein, and starches.
