Mrs Mac's has thrown its weight behind a foundation that is helping address bullying among Australian youth.
A new two-year partnership between Mrs Mac’s and the Make Bullying History Foundation (MBHF) is hoped to help eradicate bullying in Australian schools.
MBHF gives educational seminars to primary and secondary school students, as well as development workshops for teachers and parents, to help create a holistic school community approach to disarm bullying.
Both organisations were in attendance at the latest anti-bullying seminar, held at Glenwood High School in Sydney with the aim of educating over 200 Year 7 students.
Mrs Mac’s says that as a family-owned company with hard-working values, it believes in “supporting those most affected by bullying, particularly given that suicide is the number one killer of teenagers in Australia and 80 per cent of all suicides are a direct result of bullying”.
“Mrs Mac’s has a strong culture of fairness and, as a family-owned business, we feel aligned to the commitment the Make Bullying History Foundation is making to educate young people and guardians about the devastating effects bullying can have on those around them,” Mrs Mac's general manager of sales and marketing Drew Fairnham said.
The newly formed partnership to educate students and families on how to identify and stop bullying is a multi-year commitment that Fairnham says is moral obligation.
“We only partner with organisations that hold the same values,” Make Bullying History Foundation CEO and co-founder Brett Murray said.
“Bullying is an awful behaviour that impacts individuals and their families. The great weapon to stop bullying is family. Mrs Mac’s are family-owned and always strive for excellence, so to join forces with them was a natural fit.”
