Mondelez International has pledged to stop using eggs laid by caged hens for products sold in the United States and Canada by 2020.

The company already uses cage-free eggs in its European chocolate brands and has said it would switch to cage-free eggs for all its products sold in Europe by 2025.

At the end of last year, Nestle also committed to cage-free eggs for US products within five years. Other multinational food companies like General Mills and Kellogs, as well as some major fast food chains, have made similar pledges to source cage-free eggs over the next decade as pressure mounts from animal welfare groups.
