UK plant-based meat company The Meatless Farm Co is making its way to Australia, following its success in the US, UK and Europe. Australians are projected to increase spending on plant-based foods from $150 million a year to $4.6 billion by 2030.

Australia has the world’s third fastest growing market for plant-based foods, and according to Roy Morgan, it is estimated that those who eat ‘all or mostly vegetarian’ rose from 1.7 million in 2012, to 2.5 million in 2019.

Meatless Farm launched four years ago and will soon enter the food service market in Sydney through Bidfood Botany, as well as other areas in Australia through Decade Foods. Its range includes sausages, mince and burgers.

Meatless Farm founder Morten Toft Bech said the team was thrilled to be entering Australia.

“We’re committed to creating plant-based meats that deliver on taste, texture and nutrition,” said Toft Bech.

“More and more Australians are looking to reduce the amount of meat they’re eating, for both health and environmental reasons, and this shows no sign of slowing down.”

The products will also be available through Sydney burger restaurant Suburgia, which is operating a takeaway and home delivery service during the COVID-19 shutdown, and will feature the Meatless Farm patty as its May Burger of the Month.
