Iconic Mars Australia brand, MasterFoods, is set for the upcoming federal election and the highly anticipated democracy sausage season, with a limited-time rebrand of its classic Tomato Sauce to Democracy Sauce.

According to the company, the product was voted Australia’s favourite sauce for 7 years running. In 2024 alone, 4.9 million litres of MasterFoods Tomato Sauce was sold – almost 10 million bottles. To put that into perspective, that’s enough sauce bottles to circle the MCG 16,000 times, or enough sauce to fill about 250,000 bathtubs.

Around 4000 bottles will be sent out across the country for the 3 May election.

MasterFoods Australia communications manager, Annabel Archer, said the company was so excited to bring two icons together.

“The democracy sausage is a national tradition, and MasterFoods is the perfect sauce to match,” said Archer.

“As Australia’s favourite tomato sauce, it only felt right to rename our most-loved product in honor of the star of the upcoming election, the Democracy Sauce.”

MasterFoods Democracy Sauce will be available at select polling stations across the country.
