Meal kit delivery company Marley Spoon has secured €15m ($A22m) in funding and €40m ($A58m) in media services to fund its expansion in Australia and the US.

The company raised the €15m Series B funding from Luxor Capital, QD Ventures, Kreos Capital and its existing investors, including Lakestar.

The €40m in media services came from GMPVC, an established media-for-equity fund.

The latest round of funding will drive further expansion throughout the east coast of Australia and to the west coast of the US.

Marley Spoon was launched in Germany in 2014, and Marley Spoon Australia was founded in 2015 by Rolf Weber, Daniel Jarosch, Founders of brandsExclusive, and Dave Malcolm, former Head of Rockstar Games ANZ. The company is part of Marley Spoon GmbH.

Since its launch, Marley Spoon has also launched in the UK, The Netherlands, the US and Austria.

The new funding and growing customer demand will allow Marley Spoon to further expand throughout the east coast of Australia, bringing the service to 50 per cent of the totalpopulation as well as to the west coast of the US, making the service available nationwide.

This expansion brings two-year old Marley Spoon’s reach to 217 million households across the globe, the company said.

“Marley Spoon has seen a steady growth over the past 18 months in all countries. The Australian response to our unique product has been overwhelming,” the managing director of Marley Spoon Australia Rolf Weber said.

“ The latest funding will allow Marley Spoon to reach even more people and strengthen our relationships with our existing customers and suppliers. Given the changed funding environment many start-ups are facing today, we are delighted to have secured valuable funding, which will facilitate important growth in the company.”

In addition to the expansion, Marley Spoon will be launching an app this year which will provide access to the full library of recipes, and customers will be able to edit their upcoming orders, maintain their account area and receive the latest news with a few taps of the screen.
