Australian supermarkets make way: a web-based grocery delivery site from online electronics retailer Kogan, was launched on Friday.

Kogan Pantry will have an initial product range of 600 items, which will be expanded over coming months.

Kogan is reportedly dealing directly with manufacturers and wholesalers in Australia and offshore, with the offshore products to be parallel-imported from Europe and parts of Asia.

The site features food brands like Trident, Safcol, Nestle and San Remo, and Passage Foods, and many of the products are heavily discounted.

Kogan says it saw 30,000 sales within first six hours when it launched on Friday.
