IGA has celebrated the launch of its Community Co brand with the creation of a pop-up art gallery made from the ethical range called “Museum of Contemporary Eats”.

The artworks, by world-famous food artist Prudence Staite, depict iconic scenes and public figures from across Australia, including sporting legends like Glen McGrath and Bob Murphy Ladder, and household names like Maggie Beer and Anthony ‘Harries’ Carroll.

IGA's Community Co range has been developed to give back, with a portion of the sale of each Community Co product – around 1-2 cents – to go towards towards local community initiatives.

Each IGA store has its own ‘community chest’, with each individual store choosing where the proceeds are to go.

“I’m delighted to team up with IGA to pay homage to Australia’s rich cultural tapestry, using the beautiful new Community Co product range in my next art series,” Staite said.

The famous faces portrayed included Roz White, IGA Retailer and winner of 2017 National IGA Community Award and Hall of Fame inductee, who is well known in her community on the Gold Coast for running four IGA stores.

White said, “As a network of independent retailers who are passionate about serving our local communities, we’re excited to show that the value range Community Co entails more than meets the eye.”

The Community Co brand also aims to keep prices low for consumers and source responsibly by linking local Australian farmers and producers with IGA’s consumer base.

“This is an everyday brand that is quality and provides great value, but also gives back to Australian communities with every product purchased. So for the community conscious and cost conscious consumer – this is good for your hip pocket and good for your community,” White said.

The pop-up exhibition was open to the public at SUPAMART IGA Tramsheds, Harold Park over the weekend.
