The wheels are well and truly back in motion as the food and beverage sector grapples with ingredient shortages, seemingly endless supply chain pain, and inflation deciding to have a rave in the midst of it all. But! With the challenging comes the rewarding – as our April issue comes to you, we are on the verge of a season of expos, conferences, and connection.

Our April issue features a preview for the upcoming AUSPACK conference, being held in Melbourne from 17-20 May. Food & Drink Business and our stablemate PKN Packaging News will be there, front and centre, so please drop by our stand (B120), say hi, and have a chat. Read all about it from page 32.
EDITOR’S PICK
Clean skins, fresh palate
Our Rising Star this month is Sip’er, the online bottle shop for beers, wines, and spirits made by women. Started by “adventurous drinkers” Bree Nicholls and Jenny Cheng, it is a wonderful story of two friends who wanted to tell the stories and raise the profile of the remarkable female talent both in Australia and internationally. It’s on page 8.
The new blockbuster
Admittedly a little outside of our normal wheelhouse, but fun and insightful all the same, is our story on the top alcohol brands made and or owned by the rich and famous. The global ambassador of Aviation Gin (possibly one of the best jobs in the world?) Travis Tober takes us through his top 10 on page 16.

Shaking up the bottle
Does everyone remember when the global wine drinking community lost its ever-loving mind at the notion of wine bottles having a screw top lid rather than a cork? It really was a simpler time. The wine industry is now at the forefront of so many aspects of beverage manufacturing, particularly sustainability, and packaging is a major part of that. Accolade wines is one case in point, with new formats for consumers and industry. That’s on page 21.
The new playing field
The alternative protein sector is unstoppable, but we draw breath to take a look at where we are, who is on the domestic scene and what is next. Some of the biggest players share their thoughts with us from page 24.
