Australia's oldest chocolate maker, Ernest Hillier hopes to be purchased as a going concern after being placed into voluntary administration.
The North Coburg-based company was founded 100 years ago by English expat Ernest Hillier. It makes Hillier’s and Newman’s brands and it employs around 60 staff.
The company will continue to trade, according to its administrator, Cor Cordis.
Cor Cordis managing partner Bruno Secatore said there was significant interest in purchasing Hillier's, which was sold by the Piedimonte family last year for $11 million to RE Capital, the Australian arm of UK company Hilco Capital, which invests in troubled companies.
