Hellmann’s mayonnaise will be featured in a food truck pop-up in Sydney and Melbourne in January as its maker Unilever debutes a new squeeze bottle packaging format and brand ambassador.

The brand's new ambassador is former MasterChef contestant and Surfing the Menu co-host Hayden Quinn who has created a range of recipes to celebrate the extended product range.

The range now includes Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise 400g and the new Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise 400g squeeze bottle, and the new Hellmann’s Light Mayonnaise 400g squeeze bottle.

“In Australia these moments often centre on enjoying meals with families and friends, outdoor park picnics, barbecues and burgers and so we’re launching a summer #LoveHellmanns campaign to bring out the best of these moments,” Unilever business manager Australia Matthew Rigby said.

“A partnership with a quintessentially Aussie chef such as Hayden and the delicious recipes he’s created, increased distribution of Hellmann’s across leading retailers, and with new packaging we expect the brand to become a much-loved Australian favourite this summer.”

As part of #LoveHellmanns campaign, the brand will be taking the #LoveHellmanns burger food truck to Sydney and Melbourne, serving up Hayden’s Japanese Crispy Calamari Burger with slaw and Yuzu Kosho mayonnaise and a Classic Cheeseburger with a mayonnaise burger sauce.

Quinn’s recipes have been adapted for the food truck, and he will be making an appearance at the Manly food truck pop-up on Sunday, 15 January.

The Botany Group manages the importation and distribution of Hellmann’s in Australia. Botany Group CEO Anthony Manassen said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Unilever and the world’s leading mayonnaise brand in Hellmann’s.

“We believe the opportunity for Hellmann’s in Australia is enormous and we’re very excited to be partnering with the Unilever team to achieve the significant targets we have set.”

Packaging News

Under pressure from shareholders to cut costs, Unilever has released a revised sustainability strategy that CEO Hein Schumacher describes as “unashamedly realistic”, while critics call it shameful.

Warwick Armstrong is the new managing director IPE Pack Oceania, joining the company with a wealth of experience in the Australian packaging industry, and deep knowledge of equipment and materials.

The ACCC has instituted court proceedings against Clorox Australia, owner of GLAD-branded kitchen and garbage bags, over alleged false claims that bags were partly made of recycled 'ocean plastic'.
