The 2015 HACCP Award nominations for the top professionals in food safety are closing on Friday.
The award winners will be announced during the Australian HACCP Conference which takes place at the Mercure, Sydney on 18-19 of November.
The awards seek to recognise outstanding work of those who ensure safety in the Australian food supply chain.
The conference organiser, SAI Global, says all food safety professionals are encouraged to nominate for the awards, to celebrate the important work happening daily to safeguard our food supply. SAI Global is calling for nominations in two categories:
Category 1: Ross Peters Award for Excellence in Food Safety
This category is in commemoration of a food industry pioneer, Ross Peters, who was highly respected amongst his peers during his 40 year career in the industry. It is open for an individual from any size company or sector who has contributed to the status of food safety in Australia and/or New Zealand. They will have applied themselves to the implementation of food safety initiatives for their own business or for their employer, and have furthered the ideals of a safe food supply.
Category 2: Food Safety Training Scholarship
This category is intended for a professional in a junior quality assurance role or taking steps to move in that direction with a commitment to the food industry and demonstrates a real drive towards continuous improvement. This scholarship was launched in 2013 to promote and nurture highly skilled industry professionals, providing the opportunity for one individual to complete an extensive range of food safety training courses in 2016.
For the first time ever, the food industry will vote on the shortlisted candidates to determine the winner of the HACCP awards.
Candidates will be encouraged to share the news of being shortlisted to their networks and encourage the industry to vote for them.
Candidates will then be reviewed by a panel of food industry judges who will subsequently select a shortlist. For more information on the award categories, nominations, and process visit australianhaccpconference.com.au/haccp-awards/award-nominations.
The HACCP Conference will feature keynote addresses from industry speakers and organisers expect the event to draws over 200 professionals from a range of sectors.
The winners will be announced at the conference cocktail party on Wednesday 18 November.
