In the spirit of 1 April, the noodle makers at Chang's made a surprising announcement about a "world-first breakthrough" this morning.

The family owned Asian food brand, which makes a range of noodle products, including gluten free options, said it had launched a brand new product: the world's first 'Gluten Free Gluten'.

“It’s a scientific breakthrough. We have managed to find a way to extract the gluten from gluten. The result is somewhat of an acquired taste but the thought of eating gluten that is gluten-free will win fans over we are sure,” said Chang’s general manger Elaine Pow.

Chang's said the product has taken “years of secret research in some of Australia’s most confidential gluten-free locations” and will be available in several flavours: Sweet and Sour Gluten-Free Gluten; Tastes Like Chicken Gluten-Free Gluten; and Mystery Gluten-Free Gluten for those who enjoy a surprise.

In other pranks, Midori launched Mandori, a melon ale craft beer designed for men who love melons.

Mondelez also unveiled 'The Big Vegemite' a giant interactive exhibition to sit on top of its Port Melbourne factory, to be opened Australia Day 2016.
