Billion-dollar Belgian chocolate brand Godiva has marked its entry into Australia with the opening of its first store in Melbourne.
Godiva is planning to open 20 stores here over the medium term, according to Smart Company.
The first store opened in the Emporium shopping complex in Melbourne’s CBD before Christmas, and Godiva reportedly plans to open around four stores a year for the next five years.
Godiva was founded in Belgium in 1926 and now has over 600 boutiques in more than 100 countries, with its most recent expansion efforts focused on Asia.
