Gin distillery Bombay Sapphire has won the Sustainable Spirit Award by Tales of the Cocktail for its efforts to implement green practices.

The Sustainable Spirit Awards both recognises such brands and provides resources to spread the message of sustainability across the industry.

Bombay Sapphire’s Laverstoke Mill distillery is 100 per cent sustainable and engages in multiple green practices such cutting down on its carbon emissions by 38 per cent, recycling multiple forms of biomass, and harvesting rainwater.

The distillery is also located in a conservation area and Site of Special Scientific Interest, and Bombay Sapphire has taken measures to preserve and enhance the area’s faunal population.

Tales of the Cocktail Ann Tuennerman said all award recipients had shown dedication to reducing their impact on their planet.

"It’s been a core principle of Tales of the Cocktail since the beginning," she said.

"Whether it’s recycling, composting, or reducing our reliance on paper materials, we also want to serve as an example for the industry.”

Bombay Sapphire will accept the award at the 2017 Toast to Tales, which will take place on Wednesday 20 July.

Packaging News

The World Packaging Organisation has named 234 winners for the WorldStar Packaging Awards 2026, which were selected from 481 entries submitted across 36 countries.

ACOR is calling on the Government to urgently introduce packaging reforms or risk the collapse of Australia’s plastic recycling sector and face millions of tonnes of plastic waste polluting the environment.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
