FSANZ has introduced a redesigned food recall report to better support food businesses to undertake recalls. The new reporting form enhances the efficiency of reporting and recalling unsafe food items.

The number of food recalls in Australia in 2020 totalled 109, and dropped to 80 in 2021.

Accessible on both desktop and mobile devices, the new reporting form facilitates quick and easy data entry through user-friendly, clickable multiple-choice questions and free-text fields. Standardised data fields ensure rapid ingestion into the FSANZ recall software, speeding up response action.

The form is for a single recall product, and food businesses recalling two or more food products will need to complete an additional product details form for each extra product to ensure comprehensive reporting.

At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.

Pact has reported a decline in revenue and earnings for the first five months of FY26, citing subdued market demand, as chair Raphael Geminder pursues settlement of the long-running TIC earn-out dispute.
