Geelong-based chocolate manufacturer Freckleberry has entered voluntary administration, with avisory firm Cor Cordis appointed as the administrators.

Freckleberry is a privately-owned manufacturing business which develops chocolate products, with its wholesale division supplying to retailers, fundraising organisations and corporate buyers. It also caters for private label customers.

The company’s factory also features a retail store, and is also home to Freckleberry’s online shop.

Cor Cordis partner Barry Wight said: “We have just begun an investigation into the affairs of Freckleberry, including whether there are parties looking to recapitalise the Company or acquire its business and assets as a going concern.

“In the meantime it is business as usual at Freckleberry. It will continue to trade under the administrators’ control and fulfil customer orders in the busy lead up to Christmas.

“We encourage existing and new customers to visit our outlet store and consider placing their Christmas orders with Freckleberry.”

The first creditors’ meeting will be held on 17 October in Melbourne.

Food & Drink Business contacted Freckleberry but did not receive comment ahead of publication.

In news that is disappointing but not surprising given the recent reports on the unfolding Qenos saga, the new owner of Qenos has placed the company into voluntary administration. The closure of the Qenos Botany facility has also been confirmed.

An agreement struck between Cleanaway and Viva Energy will see the two companies undertake a prefeasibility assessment of a circular solution for soft plastics and other hard-to-recycle plastics.
