Future Food Systems CRC founding CEO David Eyre has stepped down after three years. Richard Norton, currently CEO of Food Agility, will act as interim CEO.

Future Food Systems Chair, Fiona Simson, thanked Eyre for his vision and dedication in leading the CRC.

“David’s belief in the CRC model, and the power of industry, government and research institutions working together has laid a great foundation for our CRC. The CRC is perfectly positioned to achieve a step-change in our food value and supply systems which is a fitting testament to David’s vision,” Simson said.

Eyre said the CRC’s mission to join low-environmental-impact food production and better human nutrition is of immense importance to global sustainability and was also critical to ensuring that Australian industry adapts to the ‘conscious consumer’ mega-trend.

“I am very proud of what the team has achieved with our partners. With 10 projects completed, 19 in progress and many more commencing, including the flagship Food Technology Facility and food innovation hub collaboration in WA, the CRC is in great shape for its next phase of growth,” said Eyre.

Under an innovative and collaborative pilot arrangement, Food Agility CRC has agreed to provide the services of Richard Norton, currently CEO of Food Agility, to undertake the role as interim CEO.

Norton will be the joint CEO of both organisations, which will create exciting new opportunities for both CRCs and for the Australian food sector.
