Over 120 exhibitors have signed up for a three-day event which aims to bring together food and beverage manufacturers from the Queensland region.

FoodTech Qld will run from 26-28 June at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, with a line-up of interactive sessions covering trending topics and key issues.

The show was created in response to the burgeoning food processing and manufacturing industry – a sector which continues to rely heavily on technology and new developments.

Organisers say there has been “keen interest” from businesses in Queensland and Northern NSW.

"We’re aware that up to 60 per cent of Queensland’s food processors are rural, so having a dedicated event that’s worth visitors’ time across relevance, expertise on offer, and insights from the industry is important,” said event director Peter Petherick.

Seminar topics include the importance of pH in food management, the issue of energy efficiency, industry technology developments on infrastructure, and the increasing demand for food traceability across both industry and consumers.

There will also be a session led by enterprise resource planner Syspro on the Industrial Internet of Things and its impact on machines, customers and suppliers; and the FTAA will cover topics such as the global cocoa supply and CSIRO’s session discussing innovation.

Other seminars will be held by Mintel (on 2016 Mintel food and drink trends) and SICK (on real traceability that delivers security), as well as many others such as Hanna Instruments, Arrow Scientific, Minus40, Biotech Laboratories, Spraying Systems, Milmeq, Sensient, the CSIRO, and Juremont.

Exhibitor Matthews Australasia will also demonstrate coding technologies such as small character continuous inkjet coders (CIJ), thermal transfer overprinters (TTO), and label print applicators (LPA).

“The Linx TT series of thermal transfer overprinters produce crisp and durable printing on flexible packaging films and self-adhesive labels,” GM of operations Mark Dingley said.

“As they allow food processors to print easily onto generic film packaging, TTOs are a cost-effective printing solution – especially for snack foods, confectionery and fresh produce."
