The first-ever FoodTech Qld event, which wound up yesterday, saw a strong turn-out and drew positive feedback from visitors, according to event organisers.
Held over three days at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, the show highlighted the importance of Queensland's food and beverage manufacturing industry, and visitor feedback was upbeat.
Event director Peter Petherick said he was pleased with the turn-out and support of the inaugural event.
“FoodTech Qld is a brand new show dedicated to an important audience, so to see such a dedicated number of people joining us and engaged in what's on offer is very exciting,” he said.
“Many of the visitors are key decision makers for their businesses, so we’re hearing stories of really great leads coming out of it.”

The education seminars were also well attended, according to Petherick.
Mintel’s seminar on Ingredients to Watch drew a strong crowd for its demonstration of trending tastes for consumers, and Wiley’s Brett Wiskar's presentation on the use of automation, data and emerging innovation to feed hungry markets into the future was also well attended.

Suppliers of equipment to the meat industry were out in force with companies like Milmeq, Assa Abloy, and John Thompson demonstrating the latest equipment targeting this sector.
Because FoodTech ran alongside the annual AIFST Convention, food safety was also a strong theme, with companies like Arrow Scientific, AMSL and DTS Food Laboratories showing off the latest new products and services.
