The exhibitor list for Australasia's largest food manufacturing trade show, foodpro 2014, has already hit the 260 mark, just 40 stands shy of a full house, according to its organisers.

Peter Petherick, foodpro’s exhibition manager, said the number of suppliers to Australia’s food and beverage industry who will be exhibiting at foodpro from 22 to 25 June are on track to hit around 300.

“With foodpro 2014 being held in Melbourne for the first time, we couldn’t be happier with the response we’ve had from our exhibitors,” Petherick said.

“We currently have over 260 exhibitors booked for the show, and we expect to see this number grow as we get closer and closer to the event.”

About 10,000 people are expected to attend the show, which will span over 20,000 square metres at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, where specific industry sectors will also be catered for.

One section of the show will cover processing equipment for meat, poultry, seafood and vegetables, while a technical area will cover food science and technology.

Sydney-based packaging company BioPak, a developer of packaging products manufactured from rapidly renewable plant-based sources such as sugar cane pulp, will be among those exhibiting their wares.

Petherick said foodpro 2014 would focus heavily on the latest projects, innovative ideas and technological advances.

“The type of innovations we’re seeing from companies like BioPak are indicative of the type of forward, progressive thinking visitors can expect from exhibitors at this year’s event,” he said.

“The event is a great forum to showcase the future of the food manufacturing industry.”
