Exhibition space at foodpro 2014, the triennial food and beverage industry trade show which is being held for the first time in Melbourne, has now completely sold out according to organisers.

More than 300 exhibitors will be attending this year's show, and visitor registrations are also up 33 per cent on from the previous foodpro show in 2011.

foodpro 2014 organiser, Diversified Communications Australia, say it is expecting over 9,000 visitors in total over the four days just, and more than sixty per cent of these will be from Victoria.

The annual Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology convention will be co-located in Melbourne with foodpro 2014.

This year it is themed ‘Food – The Final Frontier: Challenges and opportunities for the 21st century’.

The convention will addresses topics such as processing efficiency and effectiveness, diet, health and performance, food reformulation for the 21st century consumer, traceability, allergen risk management and developments, food chemistry and safety matters, supply chain economics and sustainability for the 21st century.

Also at the convention is the Food Leaders Roundtable Forum, which will tackle the topic “From mining boom to food boom – a reality.”

The question of whether Australia could become the “food bowl of Asia” will be debated by industry leaders from the private and public sectors, as well as farming and research representatives and economists.
ABC Lateline presenter Emma Alberici will moderate the discussion and audience Q&A session.
