Vegetarian Shiitake Dumpling & Prawn Hargow, Native Fruit Extracts, and Hum Honey Cold Fusion are among the winners of Fine Food Australia's Best New Product Awards.

The awards recognise the most outstanding products to have launched in the food industry in the last twelve months, and demonstrate a high level of innovation and quality, and final entries had exceeded 400, organisers said.

“This year we’ve seen key trends such as health, sustainability, and technology – including robotics - reflected in the new products that were entered. Although there can only be a handful of winners, these Awards are a great showcase of all that is groundbreaking and innovative in our industry,” event director and awards host Minnie Constan said.

Packaging News

The ACCC has instituted court proceedings against Clorox Australia, owner of GLAD-branded kitchen and garbage bags, over alleged false claims that bags were partly made of recycled 'ocean plastic'.

In news that is disappointing but not surprising given the recent reports on the unfolding Qenos saga, the new owner of Qenos has placed the company into voluntary administration. The closure of the Qenos Botany facility has also been confirmed.

An agreement struck between Cleanaway and Viva Energy will see the two companies undertake a prefeasibility assessment of a circular solution for soft plastics and other hard-to-recycle plastics.
