Japanese influences and all things organic are shaping up to be among the key food and beverage trends to find their way to Fine Food Australia 2014, the food service trade event which returns to Melbourne in September.

According to organisers, new products being launched at the show include a new range of boutique Japanese sake from exhibitor Chefs Armoury, and a new range of Japanese ingredients including Yuzu, Cherry Blossom and Sansho Pepper from The Good Grub Hub.

Organic product launches will also be prominent, with Eco Farms launching its Absolute Organic Coconut Yoghurt at this year's event.

Other new products include Australia’s first herbal coffee, a ‘design your own’ chocolate bar concept: Mychoc, and Sustainable Whitefish Caviar.

The show takes place on 15-18 September at Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The ACCC has instituted court proceedings against Clorox Australia, owner of GLAD-branded kitchen and garbage bags, over alleged false claims that bags were partly made of recycled 'ocean plastic'.

In news that is disappointing but not surprising given the recent reports on the unfolding Qenos saga, the new owner of Qenos has placed the company into voluntary administration. The closure of the Qenos Botany facility has also been confirmed.

An agreement struck between Cleanaway and Viva Energy will see the two companies undertake a prefeasibility assessment of a circular solution for soft plastics and other hard-to-recycle plastics.
