The final chance to enter the second annual Macadamia Innovation Challenge is approaching and organisers have lined up an impressive list of judges.

Sponsored by the Australian macadamia industry, the challenge is called “a world-first platform aimed at generating new packaged food concepts that can inspire the food industry globally and drive new demand for macadamias around the world”.

Competitors are invited to submit creative concepts for new packaged food products using macadamias in four product categories – confectionery, snacks, cereals and future foods – with competitors required to submit ideas with either an Asian or Western flavour profile.

This year's winners will be eligible for cash and travel prizes as well as mentorships and introductions to some of the worlds leading food innovators.

During the challenge, 10 shortlisted finalists will be invited to pitch their ideas to a judging panel of industry experts and leading food innovators.

One of the judges is Pam Brooks, chair of Northern Rivers Food and the co-founder of Cape Byron Distillery and Brookfarm, Australia’s leading producer of gourmet macadamia products.

Dr Kiyoko Kubomura, another judge, is a leading pioneer in food product innovation with over 25 years of expertise in food product research and development.

Also judging are Ben Kolly, technical and product manager at Haigh's Chocolates, and Emma Welsh, co-founder of Emma & Tom's range of fruit juices, life bars and veggie nuts.

Entries close 3 December 2018. For details, go to macadamiachallenge.com
