The Dutch creators of a lamp shaped like a Parmesan wheel are at it again, with the release of a new range Parmesan Cheese-inspired products.

According to its maker Qucina, the recently released Parmesan Cheese Lamp was so well received in The Netherlands, they decided to add to the range with the more luxurious Parmesan Cheese Lamp DLX, the Parmesan Cheese Lamp Grana and Parmesan Cheese Lamp Twins, with two DLX lamps integrated in one large stainless steel ceiling plate.

The original Parmesan Cheese Lamp was created for “lovers of good food and cool design products” following a visit to a Parmesan cheese factory in Parma, Italy, says Qucina.

Its makers said they were so inspired by the authentic production process, they created a lamp in its image.

“Our friends loved it and that is why we decided to produce our lamp for anyone who likes to have unique lighting in their kitchen or living room,” Qucina said at the time.

The lamp is not made out of the aromatic hard cheese, however. It's hand-crafted from plastic and stainless steel, though it is the same size as a real Parmesan cheese wheel.

For the more practically minded, a Boston online clothing start-up is now selling coffee-fibre infused socks and sweatshits that keep their owners feeling and smelling fresher. They use carbonised coffee which, according to the company, acts as a filter to absorb odour. The coffee is sourced from coffee roasters and is processed in a way that ensures the products don't smell like coffee. The socks cost $US 18 a pair and come in more than six colour and pattern options.

And in a win for pork lovers, a Seattle bacon manufacturer, J&D's Foods, has created bacon condoms and baconlube.

"Truly the new standard of animal protein themed prophylactics Bacon Condoms are proudly Made in America of the highest quality latex and rigorously tested to help ensure the utmost reliability and safety for when you’re makin’ Bacon," they said in a media release.

The company also makes bacon shaving cream, sunscreen and lip balm.
