Woolworths and Coles supermarkets have both pledged to stock Thankyou food and water products from social enterprise, Thankyou.co, in a demonstration of the power of social media.

The company recently added new food and body care products to its Thankyou Water range which fund projects in Africa and Asia. It followed up the launch with a video campaign to convince Woolies and Coles to stock the products.

Thankyou's Woolies and Coles campaign video, which has now been viewed more than 75,000 times, was followed up by a compilation of videos from celebrities and everyday Australians calling upon Woolies and Coles to start stocking Thankyou products.

The strategy paid off with Woolworths today announcing its intention to stock the products, following a similar announcement from Coles two days ago.

According to Thankyou co-founder and MD Daniel Flynn, a meeting between Woolworths and Thankyou took place yesterday afternoon, with the retail giant delivering its response just three hours later.

“Woolworths has agreed to range some of our food products as well as our bottled water. We are also looking at future opportunities to stock our body care range,” he said.

“We’re feeling really humbled that so many people have got behind us over the past couple of weeks and have really championed the brand for us. They really seem to understand and appreciate the difference our products are making to the lives of people less fortunate than themselves. It’s a testament to the giving and caring nature of Australians,” Flynn said.
