Enmin Vibratory Equipment (03 9800 6777) has designed a state-of-the-art vibratory bag flattener in response to a special request from a local food producer and packaging house that needed the equipment to meet HACCP standards.
Enmin has manufactured vibratory bag conditioners for a number of years, which are designed to assist in de-aeration of the product to ensure a maximum payload is achieved and in turn save on transportation costs. Bag flatteners, on the other hand, are designed to shape the filled and sealed bag to provide the best possible shape.
Bags that are out of shape due to the filling process are difficult to pack into cardboard boxes, which are subsequently hard to seal correctly. The Enmin Bag Flattener’s design involves two basic components. First, the vibratory compaction conveyor subjects the filled bag to controlled vibration and in the process ‘fluidises’ the material causing it to flow into all the sections of the bag.
As the bag is being transported forward, the second component comes into play. This is the overhead conveyor platen which can quickly be adjusted to increase or decrease the pressure being applied to the bag as it is vibrated and conveyed forward. The vibratory compaction conveyor and the overhead platen conveyor together produce a gentle squeegee action as the bag is flattened and conditioned.
Since the vibration conveyor and the platen conveyor are adjustable in controlling the vibration, speed of conveying and finally the squeegee pressure, a variety of bag dimensions of up to 250mm width can be accommodated as well as adjusting for a variety of differing materials.
