The high tech pepper cracker that shuts down electronic devices and featured in a Dolmio film about reclaiming dinnertime will soon be rolling off the production line.

3,500 pepper grinders that not only crack pepper, but also shut down TVs, wipe out WiFi and disable mobile devices, will soon become available in Australia in a national on-pack giveaway.

The device featured in a film last year which saw 100 million views across Facebook & Youtube.

Dolmio's maker, Mars Food Australia said that after the film was released, it was was inundated with a flood of requests from frustrated parents to make the Pepper Hacker available.

“We listened to our customers, and decided that we simply had to create the Pepper-Hacker en masse,” said Mars Food Australia Marketing Director Tim Hicks.

Mars did this by developing custom software and bespoke hardware to house the Wi-Fi-disabling technology within a functioning pepper grinder.

By connecting to a home Wi-Fi network, one click of the Dolmio Pepper Hacker can disable the internet connection of up to four unsuspecting family members for 30 minutes – the perfect amount of time to connect over a shared spaghetti bolognese, according to Mars.

Dolmio and agency Clemenger BBDO Sydney are producing over 3,500 fully-functioning Pepper Hackers for consumers to get their hands on as part of the national on-pack giveaway.
