Dennison Foods Manufacturing has been announced as a finalist in the Premier's Sustainability Awards.

Winning recognition in the small and medium enterprises category for its efforts to build a more sustainable environment for Victorians, the Bairnsdale-based manufacturer has focused heavily on resource efficiency.

Dennison has successfully implemented three major projects which have resulted in carbon footprint reduction, material handling efficiencies and reduced energy usage.

The projects are installation of a 100kW solar photovoltaic system, reducing carbon emissions by 15 per cent and saving 135 tonnes/annum of CO2; installation of LED lighting throughout the factory, reducing energy usage and enhancing the workplace environment; and a bulka bag system to provide efficiencies in raw materials, saving five tonnes of flour in the first eight months of operation.

The Premier's Sustainability Awards promotes leadership and innovation in sustainability, and encourages a broader adoption of these practices by Victorians.

In addition to the category awards, two winners for the Premier's Regional Recognition Award and the Premier's Recognition Award will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 29 October in Melbourne.
