Compac, part of Tomra Food, will partner with manufacturer and service provider Sienz to supply produce grading solutions across a range of categories in Australia and New Zealand.
Compac will complement its core sorting and inspection systems with Sienz infeed systems, materials handling, and selected packing equipment, to create what the two companies call integrated post-harvest solutions.
The agreement puts on paper an existing relationship in Australia for citrus, avodaco, and tropical fruit; it also extends these products to New Zealand, where it adds kiwi fruit. Sienz will be the preferred partner for peripheral solutions equipment supply, with Compac delivering sales, project management, and service support as part of the integrated solution.
According to Ken Moynihan, CEO of Compac, the partnership provides a unified go-to-market strategy across both Australia and New Zealand.
“This agreement is part of our strategy to establish ‘Best-of-Breed’ partnerships in order to offer our customers clearly defined, integrated packing solutions that leverage the very best of what is available globally for each part of the packing process.
“With this strategy we aim to lead innovation in all packhouse functions by relying on focused product development from the best specialists within our team and our global partners’.”
Continued growth in the horticultural sector means packers need innovative solutions that provide safe, high-quality produce while ramping up automation to reduce the risk of labour shortages, added Sienz director David Buys.
“We see great potential in this market, and believe that this partnership provides customers with the best solutions and service in the region through integrating products based on world-leading technologies and offering the best expertise in the industry,” he said.
