Coca-Cola has outlined plans to launch two energy drinks featuring natural ingredients under its own brand.

Although no timeline has been given for the launch, the products will be named "Coca-Cola Energy" and "Coca-Cola Energy No Sugar".

The beverage giant faces opposition from energy drinks brand Monster Beverage, however. Coca-Cola owns a 16.7 per cent stake in Monster and distributes its products. Monster says that the launch violates their agreement, with the pair reportedly now arbitration over the matter.

"We value our relationship with Monster. As in any commercial relationship, we will abide by our contractual obligations," Coca-Cola said in a statement.

Coca-Colar said the beverages are likely to have caffeine from naturally-derived ingredients and guarana extract.
