Actor Chris Hemsworth took a few days out to visit Pernod Ricard's Jacob’s Creek winery during the creation of the company's Double Barrel variety.

During his first visit to the Barossa in South Australia with his wife Elsa Pataky, Hemsworth learnt about the process of making the wine, which is finished in aged whisky barrels.

The star of Thor, The Avengers and 12 Strong provided his vocal talents for the new Jacob’s Creek 'Double Barrel Two Barrels, One Soul' commercial, which was released late last year.

Jacob’s Creek chief winemaker Ben Bryant hosted Hemsworth at the winery this month, taking him on a tour of the vineyards and barrel room, tasting wines directly from the barrel, blending wine, and coopering the barrels.

The development of the Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel range has taken years.

The winemakers discovered whisky barrels produced the best results for what they wanted to achieve. Matured in wine barrels, the wine is finished in aged whisky barrels for a richer, deeper and smoother finish.

The Double Barrel range includes a Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz Cabernet, alongside a new release Chardonnay – the first white wine for the range.
