Milk quality issues are reportedly behind the suspension of exports to China by Victorian dairy processor, Camperdown Dairy Company.
Camperdown Dairy has been exporting fresh milk to China each Monday, with the shipments airfreighted from Tullamarine airport.
The company says it voluntarily elected to suspend exports to China in order to review all shelf life validation requirements.
The Australian government received a letter from Chinese authorities confirming the trade suspension, according to an ABC Rural report.
Chinese authorities have reportedly also requested information from other companies producing pasteurised milk for the Chinese market.
Camperdown Dairy Company CEO Peter Skene has said the issue related to shelf life and keeping the product cool once it had left Australia.
Camperdown sells its milk to an importer, he said, and has no control its cool rooms, the refrigeration and transport in China.
