A new infant formula jointly created by vitamin maker Blackmores and Bega Cheese has made its debut appearance online.

The soon to be available range, which includes Newborn Formula 0-6 months, Follow-on Formula 6-12 months and Toddler Milk Drink 12+ months, can now be pre-ordered on the Blackmores site and through a Chinese online retailer.

In October last year the two companies announced their intention to establish a 50-50 joint venture to develop and manufacture a range of nutritional foods, including high quality infant formula, through Bega’s subsidiary Tatura.

The move comes amidst shortages of some popular infant formula brands which are being bought in bulk from Australian retailers and sold online in China.

“We’re developing the range of Blackmores and Tatura products to ensure we have an offering that meets the highest quality standards, with premium ingredients,” Blackmores said in October.

“We are aware from our presence in the Asia region that there is significant demand for infant formula and we believe that, with the combination of Blackmores and Bega, we’re uniquely positioned to support those women unable to breastfeed.”

Blackmores said that both it and Bega are iconic Australian brands and share a long history of producing quality products.

"Together we have highly complementary experience, Blackmores in health and nutrition and Bega in dairy manufacturing.

“This experience is matched by a strong alignment on sustainable sourcing and ingredient traceability as well as shared corporate values.”
