Ben and Jerry’s is teaming with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) in a new climate action campaign to end the 'brain freeze' on climate action.

AYCC members are currently touring Australia's east coast with a mobile ice-cream cart targeting universities as it encourages students to make sure they are enrolled to vote.

In a bid to fight for climate justice, the AYCC is handing out free scoops of Ben & Jerry's ice cream to encourage youthful voters have their voices heard on climate action this upcoming federal election.

Throughout February and March Ben & Jerry’s mobile ice cream delivery bikes will roll into university campuses during orientation weeks in the ACT, NSW and Queensland.

“Climate action is beyond urgent in Australia and many of our politicians seem to have brain freeze when it comes to strong policies and meaningful climate action,” Ben & Jerry’s ANZ social mission manager Kent Hildred said.

“We have a huge opportunity to make climate a defining issue for these upcoming federal elections but only if you are on the roll and can actually make your vote count,” AYCC campaigns director Kelly Albion said.

Despite compulsory voting in Australia, it is estimated that in the last election over a quarter of a million eligible voters aged 18-24 were not enrolled to vote and participation rates were below the national average at 86.7 per cent.
