Several local food companies and safety professionals have been named as awards finalists by organisers of the 20th Australian HACCP Conference which takes place in Melbourne at the end of this month.
Hazeldene’s chicken, Kez’s Kitchen and Monash Health were named as finalists in the outstanding company (single site) sub-category while NSW Health Share, Sanitarium and Brickwood, NSW made it into the finals in the outstanding company (multi-site) sub-category.
MWT Foods' Rachel Smith, Fibrisol Service Australia's Newton Fernando and Allan Dall from Barden Produce are finalists in the outstanding individual category nominated by an agri-food industry company category.
BSI/NCS International's Helen Davila and Troy Arnold of SAI Global are finalists in the outstanding individual working as a registered food safety auditor category.
According to the organiser of the event, training company, Advancing Food Safety, SAI Global, the winners of these awards, and the winner of a new Ross Peters’ Memorial Award, will be announced on the evening of the 2013 HACCP Conference Awards on 28 August, as part of the food safety event.
The newly created Memorial Award remembers the former technical director of Advancing Food Safety, Ross Peters, who played a significant role within the Australian and international food industry, driving education and innovation across the food and agricultural sector.
Speakers at the three day conference to be held in Melbourne from 27 to 29 August include Greg Warren, Foodbank's general manager, and Major General John Hartley OA, CEO of Future Directions International.
