A record avocado harvest has been predicted that should bring prices down for manufacturers and consumers.

Avocados shortages saw prices rise to over $6 per piece last year, but prices are expected to drop as supply rises, ABC Online reports.

75,000 tonnes of avocados are expected to be produced in 2017/18 financial year, and 100,000 tonnes nationally within a decade, according to the avocado industry body Avocados Australia.

Moreover, thanks to rising global consumption, as supply improves, grower returns will continue to rise.
