Industrial software provider Aveva has partnered with PlanetTogether to help manufacturers optimise performance across the value chain when it comes to introducing sustainable solutions to its operations with its new integrated technology.

PlanetTogether is an advanced planning and scheduling (APS) platform provider, which resolves production and operational constraints.

Its partnership with Aveva and its Manufacturing Execution System (MES), will enable supply chain planners to develop “realistic, integrated sales and operations planning” based on the plant capacity and material availability. This will allow for full visibility and plans for on-time delivery at the lowest cost.

The partnership further allows for new capabilities to the MES for tasks such as visual planning and scheduling, multi-plant production planning and production schedule optimisation, further broadening AVEVA’s portfolio of Industry 4.0 manufacturing solutions.

PlanetTogether CEO and co-founder Jim Cerra said the partnership with Aveva will enable a wider reach across the industrial ecoysystem.

“We chose to work with them because they stood head and shoulders above the industry in terms of delivering transformative digital technology to enhance customer digital collaboration in order to drive higher operational efficiency, quality, and agility to maintain a competitive edge in today’s dynamic markets,” said Cerra.

Harpeet Gulati, senior vice-president, planning & operations business unit at AVEVA, said due to the change of landscape in the past year, manufacturers are integrating their operations into their supply chain systems as a result of the impact of the pandemic, with a focus on growth and sustainability.

“Our partnership also speaks to our joint commitment to sustainability. Together, PlanetTogether and AVEVA enable customers to add sustainability drivers, such as energy use or greenhouse gas (GHG) to the optimisation rules of the production schedule, resulting in less waste, and more responsible use of resources for production,” said Gulati.

The software has already been deployed in the food and beverage, and consumer packaged goods manufacturing industries, and is continuing to rollout globally.

Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
