Australian Plant Proteins (APP) has launched Nothing Else, a direct-to-consumer brand offering faba bean and yellow pea protein isolates manufactured entirely at its Horsham, Victoria facility, making it the only vertically integrated plant protein isolate producer in the country with a consumer-facing product line.

The Horsham plant, which processes pulse crops grown in Victoria’s Wimmera region, uses proprietary ApPro extraction technology developed in-house by APP. The solvent-free process is positioned as a clean alternative to hexane-based extraction methods used by most international suppliers, with the company claiming the approach preserves protein integrity and avoids solvent residues in the finished product.

Each isolate contains a single ingredient and delivers 26g of protein per serve with a complete essential amino acid profile. Both variants are allergen-free, gluten-free, and carry no preservatives, additives, or flavour masking agents.

APP co-founder and CEO, Phil McFarlane, said, “Sustainability isn’t an add-on for us. It’s embedded in how we farm and how we manufacture. Our supply chain is short, our processes are clean, and our farming practices regenerate the land.

“We developed ApPro technology because the industry standard wasn’t good enough. Chemical extraction processes leave residues and compromise protein integrity. Our technology preserves the natural qualities of the plant while delivering a cleaner, more effective product.”

The supply chain runs from pulse cultivation through processing and packaging at the single Horsham site. Faba beans and yellow peas are grown as nitrogen-fixing rotational crops, a practice the company says reduces synthetic fertiliser use and supports long-term soil productivity across its grower network in the Wimmera.

The ApPro technology was developed specifically to address what the company describes as quality compromises inherent in conventional chemical extraction.

Vicky Pappas, CEO of My Co, which acquired APP in March 2025, said, “We’re not importing raw materials or finished products. We’re not outsourcing manufacturing. Every step happens here. This is the first time Australian consumers can access plant protein isolate that’s genuinely farm-to-you.”

Both products are available exclusively through nothingelse.com.au, with Australia-wide shipping and free delivery on orders over $70.
