Devondale made the list with its colourful Milk Shakes range by packaging supplier Cryovac Australia; Chris' Dips received recognition for its Heritage range; and Pact Group kicked some goals with its AFL football promotional packaging – among many more.

Full details of the finalists' entries will be published on the Packaging Council of Australia website tomorrow.

Award judges included Michael Grima from QDesign Enterprises; Amber Bonney from Bonney Creative; Alicia Burton from B Brand Design; Keith Chessell from Sustainable Packaging Design; and Adam Robinson from Coles Brand.

Head judge Michael Grima was impressed by the overall standard of entries:

“The APDA’s 2015 finalists delivered a blend of patented technical innovation with global potential, clever supply chain solutions and attention to detail in both design execution and an improved consumer experience,” he said.

PCA president and CEO David Carter said the aim of the Australian Packaging Design Awards was to recognise "good, innovative and imaginative" packaging.

"Good packaging makes good business sense," he said.

"As a general comment, packaging gets a bad press – so we need to celebrate and reward such packaging when we get it right.

"Packaging innovation and better design often means the use of less resources, the production of less waste, lower costs, and a more competitive product.

"These awards celebrate the success of Australian companies that get it right."

The Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be announced at the PCA Awards Presentation and End of Year Cocktail Party, held on Thursday 12 November in Albert Park, Melbourne. Click here to find out more.
