A new Aussie juice brand has been launched to tap into the trend towards combining fruits and vegetables.

To celebrate the launch of the Fruits and Roots range, the company commissioned futurist Ross Dawson to discuss the concept of 'fregetables' – which he says stems from macro trends such as health, convenience, and innovation.

The fregetables trend is reflected in juice blends in cafes and the home kitchen, and Dawson says Australians are more conscious than ever of what they consume and how it impacts their overall wellbeing.

He has analysed the diet shift from the traditional family dinner plate of 'meat and three veg' to the consumption of more plant-based food and less red meat, alcohol, and sugary drinks.

Each glass of Fruits and Roots contains one serve of fruit, and one serve of vegetables, the company says.

Flavours include pineapple, passionfruit, and sweet potato; apple, pear and spinach; and apple, berry, and purple carrot.

Other recent fregetable-style launches include the Proud & Punch iceblocks range, which include flavours such as apple, pear, spinach and dessert lime; and apple, carrot, celery and lemon.

Dole also recently came out with frozen smoothie mixes which blend fruit with vegetables such as kale and carrot.

The ACCC has instituted court proceedings against Clorox Australia, owner of GLAD-branded kitchen and garbage bags, over alleged false claims that bags were partly made of recycled 'ocean plastic'.

In news that is disappointing but not surprising given the recent reports on the unfolding Qenos saga, the new owner of Qenos has placed the company into voluntary administration. The closure of the Qenos Botany facility has also been confirmed.

An agreement struck between Cleanaway and Viva Energy will see the two companies undertake a prefeasibility assessment of a circular solution for soft plastics and other hard-to-recycle plastics.
