New speakers have been added to the line-up at the AUSPACK Business and Industry conference which will be held alongside the AUSPACK exhibition in Melbourne in March.

Andrew Manly of the Holland-based Active and Intelligent Packaging Industry Association will give a keynote on smart packaging and its role in sustainability.

Manly will look at how new packaging technologies can drive efficiency, reduce waste and give better control of sales, marketing and the supply chain. His session will go deeply into the world of smart packaging, and he will compare new technologies and active and intelligent solutions.

John Broadbent, a smart factories mentor from Realise Potential, and Adjunct Professor of Engineering at UTS, responsible for industry liaison for smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0, will be presenting on the Factory of the Future, and why it's already here.

Broadbent will also facilitate a panel on ‘4.0 In Practice - Taking the Next Step’ in the Packaging and Processing stream. This panel discussion and Q&A opportunity will explain how Industry 4.0 works in practice and what technologies manufacturers’ need, so they can compete in Australia and internationally.

John Baird of Ultimo Digital Technologies and chairman of the Cyber Security Advisory Council of the NSW Department of Finance, Services and Innovation has also been added to the speaker line-up and will present a case study on how Blockchain and IoT can provide full traceability of the supply chain.

More than 35 speakers and panellists will present new data and ideas through case studies, interactive Q&A sessions, keynote plenary sessions and 18 breakouts across the two streams at the conference.

“The variety of presentations and speakers will be an excellent way for people to learn about key industry areas,” Australian Packaging & Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) chairman Mark Dingley said.

The APPMA is presenting this two-day inaugural event as part of Packaging and Processing Week 2019.

Conference early bird rates end 25 January 2019.
