Aspire, a soft drink that uses a set of natural thermogenic (metabolism boosting) ingredients to burn calories, has been launched in Australia.

Aspire’s key ingredients are guarana extract, green tea extract, ginger and L-carnitine, according to Anthony Peacock of Aspire Drinks Australia & New Zealand.

These ingredients, he says, have thermogenic qualities that raise the body’s metabolism, accelerate weight loss, suppress appetite and play an important role in the oxidisation of fat, assisting the weight loss process.

According to Peacock, a Leeds University study supports the calorie-burning properties of the product, which contains only 4.5 calories.

Aspire was developed in the UK, where more than one million cans have already been sold so far via mainstream supermarket channels.

In Australia, the product is on sale in 40 IGAs, The Good Grocers stores, Foodworks, Farmer Jacks and numerous health shops and gyms, Peacock says.

Aspire is currently only available in cranberry flavour, but an apple and acai flavour is now available in Europe and will be introduced to the Australian market early next year with a third flavour to follow.

Aspire’s recommended retail price is $3.49 to $4.99 per can.
