Amazon Australia today announced its expansion into the groceries market and has added over 400 food and beverage brands to its local e-commerce offering.

Amazon's new Pantry Food and Drinks is its 27th category in Australia, and the move comes ten months after the US e-commerce giant launched its retail and marketplace offering here.

The pantry items will include thousands of products local and international grocery brands including Arnott’s, Milo, Uncle Tobys, Masterfoods, T2, Carman’s and Sanitarium, as well as international brands such as Oreo, Powerade and M&Ms.

“Since the launch of amazon.com.au in December of last year, we have been focused on growing selection and services for Australian customers,” Country Manager of Amazon Australia Rocco Braeuniger says.

“Today we are delighted to add to the over 80 million products already available on the store with the launch of Pantry Food and Drinks, bringing greater convenience to customers, underscored by everyday brilliant value and fast delivery.”

The product range responds to the growing health food trend in Australia, according to Amazon, and features health food brands such as Pacific Organics, Blue Dinosaur Paleo Bars, Genoa Foods, Ovvio tea, and Madura tea, whilst also supporting local health food entrepreneurs including Honest to Goodness and Zen Green Tea.

The Protein Bread Co. co-founder and director Luke Hopkins said the company would be selling its high protein and low carb baking mixes on Amazon Australia.

“Our goal is to support Aussies with better food choices and working with Amazon will open the door for even more people to try our healthier versions of traditionally high carb foods such as pancakes, pizza and cookies, which will support them in achieving their goals.”
