Blue Diamond Growers, owners of the Almond Breeze dairy alternative range have released a new almond milk product that's specifically suited to coffee.

The new Almond Breeze Barista Blend was specially developed in partnership with some of the country’s leading baristas, to create a blend that complements coffee in terms of its taste and froth.

The product is targeting those health conscious consumers who continue to make the switch from dairy and other non-dairy alternatives such as soy, to almond milk.

A coffee made with Almond Breeze Barista Blend contains 30 per cent less calories than a skim milk or regular soy coffee, according to Blue Diamond Growers.

The company says the number of consumers shifting from other dairy alternatives has been significant over the past 12 months, with almond milk now accounting for a quarter of all non-dairy milks sold today.

Blue Diamond Grower said sales of its Almond Breeze range are growing more than 130 per cent year-on-year.

“Cafes, coffee shops and other players in the food service category will now be able to tap the growing demand from almond milk drinkers by delivering great tasting – and great looking – coffees to their customers,” Roger Ringwood, country manager for Blue Diamond Growers, said.

“Through working with baristas and café owners, we learnt that more and more consumers are asking for almond milk in their lattes and cappuccinos. It was critically important to develop a quality product that performs just like milk, complements good coffee in terms of taste and provides the consistency when frothing, which is key to visual appeal.”
