Victoria’s Camel Milk Co will receive a $25,000 small-scale and craft program grant from the state government to support the purchase of a new pasteuriser and dairy filler at its farm.
The new equipment will allow the business to upscale its production, promote new products and further growth opportunities as Camel Milk Co Australia works to keep up with demand, which has more than tripled in the last three years.
“Camel milk is a niche industry with huge growth potential – regional businesses like Camel Milk Co Australia are the reason that Victoria has a global reputation as producer of quality agricultural products,” said Minister for Agriculture Jaclyn Symes.
“As we move into an economic recovery phase, Victoria’s regions are well positioned to lead the state’s economic recovery. These grants will help businesses to grow and diversify, boosting our regional economies and building resilience.”
Megan and Chris Williams launched Camel Milk Co Australia in 2014 with just three camels. Now, they have more than 250, with more camels expected as the calving season begins.
Camel Milk Co Australia exports its products, including milk, freeze dried milk powder and camel feta cheese to Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong.
It also produces camel milk-based soaps, lip balms and body butters.
