Yoghurt brand Yoplait has revised its recipe to mark 40 years in Australia. The ‘new and improved’ Yoplait has a thicker and creamier texture with more fruit in each tub.

The brand, now owned by Bega, has been a reliable presence in the ever-changing dairy cabinet. Bega Dairy and Drinks marketing director Sharon Winton said yoghurt consumption has increased significantly since Yoplait first launched, with Australians consuming around 7.5kg of yoghurt per person a year.

“Yoplait was a pioneer of flavoured yoghurt in Australia, bringing Aussies the first taste of flavoured multipacks and shaping the way we eat yoghurt,” Winton said.

Bega carried out research with consumers when revising the recipe. While unsurprising, taste was the number one reason for consumption, a creamy texture and fruity flavour were the main drivers of how much a product was enjoyed. Winton said Bega trialled several recipes with the new Yoplait rating the highest on texture, spoon consistency, flavour, and the amount of real fruit.

“The brand has continued to adapt with consumers, and we love that kids who grew up eating Yoplait are now choosing it for their own families. We can’t wait for them to try our best Yoplait yet,” Winton said.

The new Yoplait core range is available nationally in 1kg, 12 x 100g and 6 x 160g multipacks at major and selected independent supermarkets.
