Woolies, Zeus Street Greek unveil chook collab

Woolworths has teamed up with Zeus Street Greek to launch a limited edition Woolworths roast chicken, featuring Zeus Street Greek’s signature seasoning.

The original version of the roast chicken first graced Woolworths stores in 1960, and since then has become an Aussie favourite with more than 20 million picked up by customers every year. Over the years Woolworths has also launched other limited-edition chooks including Garlic Bread, BBQ Memphis and Tandoori.

Zeus Street Greek CEO, Ramon Castillo, said the company’s original seasoning is a celebration of authentic Greek flavours that its customers know and love.

“Bringing the taste of our Zeus Street Greek original seasoning to the Woolies’ hot roast chicken means more Aussies can enjoy a little taste of Zeus at home,” said Castillo.

“This collaboration is a great continuation of our partnership with Woolworths, which already stocks a range of 15 products, including signature rubs, sauces and DIY pita kits.”

The new Zeus Street Greek chicken is seasoned with zesty lemon and herb flavours, and stuffed with breadcrumbs spiced with smoky lemon, paprika, garlic and herbs.

Woolworths merchandise manager, Matt Harbich, said customers can't get enough of the “bachelor’s handbag” – whether that's for a quick meal to feed the family or to use for easy meal prep for sandwiches and salads.

“While you can’t go wrong with a classic, our customers go wild over new and trending flavours,” said Harbich.

“Zeus Street Greek is an incredible Aussie success story and they clearly have the recipe for what Aussies want to eat, so it’s amazing to partner with them on this delicious roast chicken. It also perfectly complements the new range of Zeus Street Greek products at Woolworths, such as the DIY pita kits to easily make gyros at home.”

The Zeus Street Greek Hot Roast Chicken is now available for a limited time only in Woolworths and Metro stores, for RRP $14.50.
