Crafted with Starward’s single malt whisky, the distillery has released the latest iteration of its Ginger Beer Cask variety. With a profile of ginger, orange, and dark chocolate, the result is a zesty and sweet spice dram.

Starward began making ginger beer in 2014, with distillers wanting to experiment with flavours and ingredients. Each year since the recipe has changed as have the barrels used. Once the ginger beer is bottled, the barrels are then used for whisky fermentation.

Starward Founder Dave Vitale said, “Ginger Beer is known for its versatility, vibrancy, and fun. The reason so, is because it came to be from a distillery playing around and experimenting with amazing ingredients.

“Back in 2014, our distillers put their brewer hats on and had a go at brewing a ginger beer. What expression comes forward each release is purely dependent on what they’ve played with this year.

“Even when we have a Double Gold medal for a release, like Ginger Beer Cask #6 from the 2022 San Francisco World Spirit Competition, they still try to find a new way to elevate, play or have fun with flavour.”

Vitale said this year’s ginger beer recipe was packed with more fresh ginger than ever before and aged only in American oak ex-Starward casks, offering bolder vanilla and spice notes.

“This release has a star-studded profile of ginger, orange and dark chocolate with oaky vanilla and our signature Starward tropical notes shining on the palate. You don’t need to be a seasoned whisky lover to enjoy the zesty and sweet spice of this whisky. It is perfect in cocktails, poured neat and even better when shared amongst friends and loved ones,” he said.

Ginger Beer Cask #7 will be released in a 700ml bottle for $149.00.
